Cruelty Free Pest Control Works
By Wade Robins
When it comes to pest control of rabbits and small raccoons some of us might have hard time with the cruelty of some pest control products. Unfortunately, not everything can be joyous and nice in life. Some pests cannot be controlled in nice ways. Some methods of pest control allow us not to feel so bad for the bunnies other fuzzy “critters” that can do damage to our properties.

More Cruelty Free Pest Control Methods

When thinking of cruelty free pest control methods it really depends on what type of pest you are trying to rid your home and property of. If you are fighting, infestations of insects there are no nice ways to do it. Chemicals and poisons is really the only effective ways to rid your home and properties of many insects. Some rodents such as rats have become somewhat used to some of the chemicals and some can survive only to come back with more friends and family to invade your home and family.

Some rats will kill smaller pets in your home and they can carry some real nasty diseases. Some more humane methods of pest control might be ultrasonic pest control or live traps where the animal is trapped then taken and released in an area away from your home and family. Others will destroy and kill other pets and animals you may have and there is no other choice but to shoot them or find a professional method. Make sure you ask questions and get answers. Make sure you are dealing with professionals that are trained and licensed. See what kind of guarantee they have to offer. Leave the Poison On the Shelf!
Matthew Grady
If you woke up tomorrow morning and discovered your roof was leaking what would you do first? Most people would probably get a bucket and place it under the leak and then call someone to fix the problem. Now whom would you call? Would you call a roofer to come fix your roof or would you call a "water control service" to empty and replace the bucket every time it rains? Of course, you'd call the company that could prevent the leak from reoccurring. This same logic can be applied to mice infestations.

When most homeowners realize they have a mouse problem they call a large pest control company to come out to perform a mice-poisoning service. This involves setting up numerous poison stations throughout the house. As the mice enter the house most of them feed from these poison stations and die. The company then returns four times each year to refill the poison stations and hands you a bill each time they visit. Meanwhile nothing is being done to prevent mice from entering your home in the first place. This process goes on forever!

Mouse-Proofing - A More Sensible Approach

What if mice were not able to gain access to your home? If this were the case there wouldn't be a need to load your house with poison and enter into the perpetual cycle of quarterly visits and invoices from the pest control company.

In recent years mouse proofing has become a more effective, longer lasting and more environmentally responsible alternative to mice poisoning services.

Can My House Be Mouse Proofed?

Not every home is able to be totally mouse proofed. Certain conditions make total mouse proofing impossible. For example, older homes with loose stone foundations are rarely candidates for total mouse prevention. Another condition that prevents total mouse proofing is the presence of an attached garage. Mice will often use the soft gasket on the bottom of the garage door to slip into your garage.

However if your home is less than 15 years old and has a solid concrete foundation there is a very good chance that it can in fact be totally mouse proofed.

Finding A Mouse-Proofing Company

One problem homeowners will face is that very few companies offer mouse-proofing services. I suggest you exhaust all efforts to find a company in your area that does. When you call, ask them if they provide any type of preventative service as opposed to poisons. If you cannot find a company, you should take a shot at it yourself before you enter the poison cycle. Be sure to set numerous mousetraps throughout your home (at least a dozen) and then make an attempt to seal off all gaps and openings in the foundation and even the roof of your home.

Conclusion

For decades homeowners have lived with mice infestations. Most have never been offered a solution other than poison from the pest control industry. This trend is now changing because total mouse proofing is indeed possible and it is gaining popularity.

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room..

One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

The men talked for hours on end.

They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by.

Although the other man could not hear the band, he could see it in his mind s eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days, weeks and months passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.

She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.

He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.

It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you..'

Epilogue:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

'Today is a gift, that is why it is called The Present.'
