SilverfishSilverfish are insects. They have no wings and are a long, triangular shape and gray to silver in color and have three long, thin appendages extending from the rear.
Silverfish develop without metamorphosis. What does this mean? The young silverfish nymphs look exactly like the adults. They do molt but undergo no physical changes during their molts. Silverfish continue to molt even after they mature into an adult.
Silverfish live indoors and outdoors throughout the country. They can be found outside around buildings, especially in warm southern states. Silverfish feed on paper, fungi and molds, organic debris, starches, oatmeal, cereals, glue, wallpaper and even synthetic fibers like rayon. Silverfish, like termites, have microbes in their gut which allow them to digest the cellulose found in paper.
Silverfish are more like cockroaches in their habits. Like cockroaches, silverfish prefer to spend the day resting in dark cracks and voids. They come out at night to forage for food.
Can silverfish be a damaging pest? Yes they can! They will feed on paper and fabrics, they can cause damage to books and clothing, especially those items stored in warm, moist areas. Yes, silverfish like places that are warm and humid. Silverfish can be found in basements, attics, crawlspace's, boiler rooms, furnace rooms and fireplaces. They live around stacks of papers, books, boxes and paper sacks.
There is another species of silverfish that likes to live in hot areas. This particular silverfish is called a firebrat. To distinguish a silverfish from a firebrat, the firebrat appears darker due to the mottled markings on its back. The firebrat is usually found in boiler rooms, steam tunnels, hot attics, ovens and stoves, around water heaters, behind baseboard heaters and radiators and inside insulation around steam pipes and hot water pipes. Firebrats only breed in hot areas, the source of the infestation will always be found in an area that stays above 90 degrees.
It is not uncommon to lift shingles and find silverfish living underneath. They are especially common in wood shingle roofs. The two places that you the homeowner would commonly notice silverfish are in sinks in bathrooms and kitchens and on ceilings. The reason for this is that they get trapped in the sink or bathtub because once they crawl in, they are unable to climb out.
Some things the homeowner might do to limit silverfish infestations is to:
•Remove stacks of papers and paper bags.
•Straighten up and/or remove clutter.
•Go through boxes stored in infested areas to remove silverfish living in them and repack in new boxes.
•Seal cracks in the exterior through which silverfish could enter.
•Seal cracks around pipes, vents and light fixtures that lead from the attic, the basement, and/or the crawlspace.
•Seal all corners and open edges of boxes with tape.

Top 10 Ways To Protect Yourself From Computer VirusesAuthor: Nayie
As more and more people are becoming comfortable using their computers at school, home or in the office it’s only a matter of time before they encounter a computer virus. Here are our top 10 steps to protect you from computer viruses.
Use a high quality anti-virus program. There are many different anti-virus computers programs on the market some of them are better than others. Look to reputable computer magazines or websites for ratings to help you find the one that matches your needs.
Always use your anti-virus software. Make sure your anti-virus software is always turned on and scanning, incoming and outgoing email messages, and any software programs you run.
Keep your antivirus programs up to date. Most programs come with a yearly subscription make sure you take advantage of the updates. More advanced programs allow you to schedule updates or full system scans for “off hours” like 2AM when you aren’t likely to be using your computer.
Keep your computer up to date. From time to time operating systems fall victim to security holes or issue updates. Make sure you check periodically to make sure you are running stable up to date versions of your software.
Backup your data regularly. Most windows computer users keep their documents in the “My documents” folder. This makes it easy to back up all of your important documents. Make weekly or monthly copies to CD or USB drives.
If you use floppy disks or USB drives on public computers like your school computer lab, Kinko’s, or even digital photo printing store make sure you scan them for viruses. Public computers are notorious for not being up to date and properly protected.
Be wary of email attachments. Treat any email attachment as potentially dangerous. Never open attachments from people you weren’t expecting. Also be careful of attachments from people you know but weren’t expecting. Many computer viruses replicate themselves by reading the contacts from an infected computer.
Use text email if possible. While HTML email is prettier and allows you more control over formatting it also can carry computer viruses. If you use text based email the only way to get a virus is by opening an attachment.
Use downloaded freeware and shareware files or software with caution. Try to download them from popular reputable sources that scan the programs before they are uploaded. To make sure you are safe scan the program before you install it on your computer.
Be wary of links in IM or instant messaging software. Don’t accept invitations from people you don’t know and never click a link from someone you don’t trust, they can easily redirect you to another website that will try to install a virus on your computer system.

Three handsome male dogs are walking down the street when they see a beautiful, enticing, female Poodle.
T. Taylor Publisher - Infobreaks Newsletter
The three male dogs fall all over themselves in an effort to be the one to reach her first, but end up arriving in front of her at the same time.
The males are speechless before her beauty, slobbering on themselves and hoping for just a glance from her in return.
Aware of her charms and her obvious effect on the three suitors, she decides to be kind and tells them, "The first one who can use the words 'liver' and 'cheese' together in an imaginative, intelligent sentence can go out with me."
The sturdy, muscular black Lab speaks up quickly and says, "I love liver and cheese."
"Oh, how childish," said the Poodle. "That shows no imagination or intelligence whatsoever."
She turns to the tall, shiny Golden Retriever and says "How well can you do?"
"Um. I HATE liver and cheese," blurts the Golden Retriever.
"My, my," said the Poodle. "I guess it's hopeless. That's just as dumb as the Lab's sentence."
She then turns to the last of the three dogs and says, "How about you, little guy?"
The last of the three, tiny in stature but big in fame and finesse, is the Taco Bell Chihuahua .
He gives her a smile, a sly wink, turns to the Golden Retriever and the Lab and says:
(ok this is good)
