Carpenter AntsCarpenter ants can cause damage to the wood members in homes. They are large ants, and people just don't want them in their homes. Carpenter ants have only one node between the thorax and abdomen. They have an evenly rounded thorax and have a circle of tiny hairs around the anus.Carpenter Ant
Are carpenter ants all black? No. Many species of carpenter ants are red and black or light brown. A colony of carpenter ants have many different types or sizes of worker ants. The largest worker carpenter ants grow to about 5/8 of an inch long and the smallest carpenter ant worker in a colony could be as small as 1/8 inch.
In nature carpenter ants prefer to live in moist and decaying wood. Some examples of outside sites where you would find carpenter ant colonies are
º Firewood pales
º Stumps
º Dead limbs in trees
º Tree holes
º Fence posts
º Landscape timbers
º Porch columns
º Decks
Carpenter ants have a parent colony and several satellite colonies. The parent colony contains the queen, the eggs, and most of the larvae. Satellite colonies contain workers, swamers, some larvae and some pupae. The parent colony contains the queen which is the egg-laying center of an ant colony. Without her, the satellite colonies cannot survive long. In carpenter ant infestations the parent colony is usually found outside because the conditions that the parent colony needs to survive are generally found outside ( very moist conditions with a constant water supply). Parent colonies can be found inside when a constant source of moisture is present. Things that can cause this constant source of moisture inside are...
º Water leaks from plumbing, roof leaks, around chimney flashing, and around windows.
º Poor attic or crawlspace ventilation
º Condensation on windows that collect in the walls and window sills.
Satellite colonies do not have to have a constant source of moisture in order to survive. Here are some sites where a satellite colony will locate.
º Wall voids
º Hollow porch columns
º Under the base of cabinets
º Hollow curtain rods
º Hollow shower rods
º Under insulation
º Hollow doors
º Behind dishwashers
º The expansion space around windows
º Spaces above and below bay windows and small porches
If you have difficulty finding a particular carpenter ant infestation, it is a good idea to make a night inspection when the ants are most active. Inspect around 9-10 PM and look for ant trails. Follow these trails back to where the colony is located. Ants with swollen abdomens or carrying food are typically headed back to the colony.

Treatment of Flea Bites on Human – What Home Remedies Available?Author: Ann Wong
Flea not only bites and live off your pets, they bites on people too. The typical human reaction to a flea bite is the formation of a small, hard, red, slightly raised, itching spot with no swelling. Some bleeding can occur, particularly if the bitten area is scratched. A single puncture point caused by the flea is generally apparent in the center of each spot. (See "Home flea control", "Dog and cat flea control" is what you need to do as part of your flea extermination plan.

Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber.
"I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news," he said as he surveyed the worried faces.
"The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant.
It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope.
Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the brain yourselves.."
The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great length of time, someasked, "Well, how much does a brain cost?"
