Cockroaches in your home?

If you have cockroaches in your home, this is the season they can multiply quickly. And quickly they will! With summertime in full force here in the US, high humidity and heat. This is what cockroaches thrive on. Especially German cockroaches.

German cockroaches are the most persistent cockroach in the US and many other countries. German cockroaches don't normally live outside. They will travel from home to home or building to building but they are not like the large cockroaches such as the American cockroach that normally lives outside. German cockroaches are usually brought in by someone. In used furniture, in sacks, boxes or can come from your next door neighbor. Once you have them and let them multiply they can take over your home. They also have a distinct odor about them. If you live in a home full of German cockroaches you are probably immune to the odor and become adapted to it. However, when someone else comes into your home from outside, the stinch is sometimes overpowering. I have been in homes where the smell is almost unbearable. Sometimes gaging.

Spraying the baseboards, cabinets, and other areas of your home will not get rid of your German cockroaches. You might see a decline or decrease for awhile but they are only going back into your walls and cracks and crevices until the smell of insecticide is gone. They are still multiplying. You may even see an increase after awhile. Baiting and dusting is the only sure way to rid your home of German cockroaches. My advice is to get rid of them as fast as you can before they can multiply. Already multiplied? It's not too late. They can be extinguished. But it's no overnight ordeal. It can take time to rid your home of German cockroaches if done properly. Most companies charge 350 to 400 dollars to rid your home of German cockroaches. Are screensavers still necessary in 2007?

Screensavers were initially invented as a way to prevent 'burn in' on computer screens. Burn-in is what happens when a single image is displayed on screen for an extended period of time, resulting in a 'burn' of that image permanently damaging your screen.

Today, with the prevalence of CRT and LCD screens, which are highly resistant, burn-in is not much of an issue.

However, screensavers also serve another purpose: entertainment.

There are many animated and complex screensavers which people put on their computers and watch them as their computers idle. These more complex screensavers do however use up a good deal of CPU, and are not strictly a good option.

A couple alternatives, are either a blank screen, or, better yet, a wallpaper screensaver. These screensavers display a rotation of wallpaper images on your screen, which are both entertaining and use little CPU power.

There are many wallpaper screensavers which cater to all different tastes, including celebrities, cars, babes, nature, cartoons and many more.

So rather than having a blank screen, or a boring screensaver, try a wallpaper screensaver.

The Scene: The Pearly Gates to Heaven. St Peter is receptionist at the entrance. A cat shows up.

St Peter says "I know you! You were a very nice cat on earth and didn't cause any trouble, so I want to offer a gift to you of one special thing you have always wanted."

Cat: "Well, I did always long to own a nice satin pillow like my master had, so I could lie on it."

St Peter: "That's easy. Granted. You shall have the satin pillow after you enter in."

Next a group of mice appeared.

St Peter: "Ah, I remember you. You were such good mice on earth. You didn't steal food from anyone's house and never hurt other animals. Therefore, I want to grant you one special wish you always wanted."

The Chief Mouse replied, "Well, we always watched the children playing and saw them roller skate, and it was beautiful, and it looked like so much fun. So can we each have some roller skates, please?"

St Peter: "Granted. You shall have your wish."

Next day, St Peter is making the rounds inside the Gates, and sees the cat.

"Well, Cat ... Did you enjoy the satin pillow?"

Cat: "Oh, indeed I did. And say ... that "Meals on Wheels" thing was a nice touch, too!"
