Indian Meal Moth
Plodia interpunctella
Adults have wing spread of 5/8 inch;
wings are pale grey, with outer portion of fore wing reddish brown; larvae are
about 1/2 inch long, with dirty white color. Adults fly mainly at
night. Larvae feed on all kinds of grains and flour, and dried
fruits; its extensive webbing spoils more food than in consumes.
Females Lay between 200 to 400 eggs in spring; complete life cycle ranges from
4 to 6 weeks. Larvae and adults are often mistaken for
clothes moths; adults live only one or two weeks.
